Protecting your language
Self-determination and First Nations languages
The Burraga Foundation recognises self-determination around First Nations languages, knowledges and cultures.
We follow ethical protocols and respect First Nations Cultural and Intellectual Property (ACIP) around First Nations languages and other forms of cultural knowledge.
We adhere to the Language Custodians Guidelines for ethical and respectful collaborations and the Protection of Cultural and intellectual property.
The Aboriginal Language Trust and NSW Government, with support of Terri Janke and Company have produced Community Guidelines for Protecting your Cultural and Intellectual Property and Working with Aboriginal Language Custodians Guidelines for ethical and respectful collaborations.
We support all stakeholders working in partnership with the Burraga First Nations Languages Platform, to understand the rights of cultural knowledge holders, First Nations communities and intellectual property holders.
Oure purpose is to empower local First Nations communities to self-determine and benefit from our collaborative efforts to revitalise language. Do things for the right reasons, achieves the right results!
